Affiliate disclosure: AoneJet earns a commission when you request a quote or book through partner links on this site. That commission is paid by the partner and does not change what you pay. It also does not decide what we write — pricing here is reported as market ranges, not as an offer.

What happens after you send a private jet quote request

Your request goes to a shortlist of operators, not a blast to the whole market. We filter by aircraft based within reasonable positioning distance of your departure airport, by class suited to your sector length and passenger count, and by safety standing. What comes back to you is a small set of live options, usually three to five, each one showing the operator's name, the aircraft type and tail configuration, the year of the airframe or its last cabin refurbishment, and one all-in total.

That total is a single number you can compare across options. It is not a base rate with a footnote. Nothing is charged when you request a charter quote, and nothing is charged when you review the options. Money moves only after you confirm in writing on a charter agreement for a named operator, a named aircraft and a fixed date.

We are a broker. The flight itself is operated by an FAA-certificated Part 135 direct air carrier, and the FAA rules for on-demand operations sit with that certificate holder, not with us. We check third-party audit standing, including ARGUS ratings and Wyvern Wingman, before an option reaches you.

What to have ready before you get a private jet quote

Six fields decide whether the number that comes back is accurate or a placeholder. Each one moves the price for a mechanical reason.

What we need Why it changes the price
Both airports, by code KTEB and KHPN are 25 miles apart and price differently. KHTO at 4,255 ft of runway and KSQL at 2,600 ft rule out most jets outright.
Real passenger count Nine passengers pushes a Citation XLS+ to its 9-seat limit and may force a super midsize, moving the indicative band from roughly $4,800-$7,200 to $6,500-$9,500 per hour.
Bag profile Golf bags, ski gear and strollers are volume, not weight. A Learjet 75 Liberty carries 50 cu ft; a Praetor 600 carries 155 cu ft.
Pets and their carriers Not every operator or owner permits animals in the cabin, which shrinks the shortlist and can raise the winning number.
Timing flexibility A two-hour departure window lets an operator fit your leg to an existing repositioning, which is where genuine savings live.
Trip shape and ground time A day trip with the crew and aircraft waiting is priced differently from two one-way legs, because of crew duty limits and overnight costs.

Give us the passenger count you will actually fly, not a round number. Adding two people at the airport is the single most common cause of an aircraft swap on the day, and swaps happen at short-notice pricing.

What the private jet quote itemises

Every option we send breaks down the same way, so a number from one operator is comparable with the next.

  • Flight time charge. Billable hours at the operator's wet rate, including positioning legs.
  • Federal excise tax. 7.5% on domestic transportation, plus the per-segment charge, both explained in the NBAA federal excise tax guidance.
  • Segment fees, landing and handling. FBO ramp and handling at both ends, which at a Signature or Atlantic Aviation facility on a busy weekend differs sharply from a quiet regional field.
  • Overnight and crew expenses. Hotel and per diem where the itinerary keeps the crew away from base.
  • De-icing, catering and de-planing extras. Quoted as estimates where they cannot be fixed in advance, and flagged as such.

Everything we publish is an indicative market range built from the cost model on our private jet cost pillar, never a firm price from a specific operator. If you want a rough figure before you send a private jet booking request, run your trip through the charter cost calculator.

Why availability moves and what that means for you

An aircraft is not inventory that sits still. The same Phenom 300E or Challenger 350 is being offered to several brokers at once, and the first signed agreement takes it. A single 1,200 nm booking can reposition a jet out of your market for three days. That is why a charter quote holds pricing for a day or two but says nothing about the tail staying free.

Two practical consequences. First, if you like an option, say so quickly; verbal interest costs nothing and lets the operator hold the tail for a few hours. Second, flexible dates are worth real money. Moving a Friday afternoon departure to Saturday morning routinely changes which aircraft are positioned nearby, and it is how empty leg flights become available at all.

Requesting a quote as a first-time charter customer

If you have never chartered, expect the process to feel unusually short. There is no application, no credit check and no interview. You submit a request, you receive options, you either sign or you do not. If you fly often enough that repeat requests become tedious, the trade-offs of prepaid programmes are covered on our jet cards page, and the operator and broker landscape on our private jet companies page.

Two things worth knowing before your first trip. Cancellation terms tighten as departure approaches, commonly moving from a modest fee outside 72 hours to the full amount inside 24. And the aircraft named in your agreement can be substituted if it goes technical; the agreement should say whether a substitution must be the same class or better, and what happens to the price if it is not. Ask for both in writing when you get a private jet quote you are ready to accept.

Send the request when you have the two airport codes and a date. Everything else can be refined by email, and no part of the process bills you until you sign.

Private jet quote: frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get a private jet quote?

Most domestic requests come back within one to three hours during business hours, and inside 30 to 60 minutes when the trip is a common pairing like KTEB to KOPF where dozens of aircraft sit in position. Complex trips, international permits, multi-leg itineraries and aircraft with specific cabin requirements take longer because each operator has to confirm crew duty and slot availability first.

How long does a charter quote hold?

Pricing typically holds 24 to 48 hours, and the specific tail behind it often holds far less than that. Availability moves because the same aircraft is being offered to several brokers at once and because the operator may sell a longer trip that repositions it out of your region. Inside seven days of departure, treat any number older than a day as stale and ask for a refresh.

Do I need to pay anything or store a card to request a charter quote?

No. There is no membership, no subscription and no card on file. Nothing is charged until you sign a charter agreement for a specific aircraft on a specific date. That agreement names the operator, the tail type, the all-in total and the cancellation terms, and payment is normally made by wire to the operator or to an escrow account before departure.

Are you the airline or a broker?

AoneJet is a charter broker. We do not own or operate aircraft. Every flight is operated by an FAA certificated Part 135 direct air carrier that holds its own operating certificate, insurance and crew training programme. The certificate holder controls the flight, the crew and the go or no-go decision. We name that operator in the option before you commit, not after.

Why do quotes for the same trip differ by thousands of dollars?

Three reasons dominate. The aircraft may be based near your departure airport or three hours away, which changes the positioning legs you pay for. One operator may be flying a repositioning leg that already exists. And the operators may be quoting different classes, a light jet against a super midsize, which is a different cabin, not a cheaper version of the same one.

Can I get an instant jet quote online instead?

An instant jet quote is an algorithm producing a number in seconds, and it cannot confirm that a specific tail is available, crewed and legal for your departure time. Use our charter cost calculator for a fast indicative range, then send a request when you want a real option. Every number on this site is an indicative market range and never a firm price from a named operator.

What happens next

  1. We read the trip and shortlist operators with the right aircraft in the right place.
  2. You get live options with the operator named, the tail type, and an all-in total.
  3. Nothing is held or charged until you say yes in writing.
